The Smart Scan engine
Every feature is powered by the same six-phase scan engine: Index → Hash → Classify → Group → Refine → Results. Scanning uses a 64-bit perceptual hash for duplicate detection, Apple ML Kit for category classification (memes, screenshots, blurry), and iOS smart album integration for burst groups. The entire pipeline runs on the Neural Engine with no network access.
Scan time on a typical iPhone 15 with 10,000 photos: 2–4 minutes. A background incremental scan runs every four hours to keep results fresh, so new screenshots and downloaded memes surface automatically without requiring manual rescans.

- Scanning and hashing — 64-bit perceptual hashing in Swift against the local Photo Kit library
- Classification — Apple ML Kit meme, screenshot, and blurry detectors running on the Neural Engine
- Duplicate grouping — Hamming distance comparisons against the local SQLite hash index
- Boost compression — Apple AVFoundation HEVC encoding and Image I/O HEIC encoding
- Backroom vault — iOS Keychain PIN storage, local encrypted container, Face ID
- Contacts cleanup — Levenshtein and Union-Find clustering against the iOS Contacts framework
There is no cloud service anywhere in this stack. No photo metadata is uploaded. No scan results are uploaded. No personality result from Gallery Wrapped leaves your device. You can read the full privacy page or just run the app in Airplane Mode — it works.
