Afia Labs ("Afia Labs Studio," "we," "our," or "us") operates the website at afialabs.net, our mobile applications (MemeScanr, TripSquad, Planet Wonders), our studio services for client work, and related communications such as our newsletter (collectively, the "Services"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using our Services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
A. Information You Provide
You may choose to provide information when you contact us, submit an inquiry, subscribe to our newsletter, or interact with our Services. This may include:
- Name
- Email address
- Phone number (optional, on the project inquiry form)
- Business name and current website (optional, on the project inquiry form)
- Project type, budget range, and message content you submit through the inquiry form
- Newsletter subscription email
- Support messages or feedback you send by email
The project inquiry form on /services/ is processed by Web3Forms, a third-party form-handling service. They forward inquiry contents to our support email and may retain a copy in their records. Their privacy policy applies to that handling: web3forms.com/privacy.
B. Information Collected Automatically
When you use our Services, we may automatically collect limited information to help us operate and improve them, such as:
- Device type and model
- Operating system version
- App version (for our mobile apps)
- Basic usage data (for example: screens viewed, feature usage)
- Crash logs and diagnostics
- Approximate location (derived from IP address when visiting the website)
- Page views and referrer (when visiting the website)
The website is served by Cloudflare, which records standard server logs (IP address, user agent, request path) for security and operational purposes. The website does not currently use third-party analytics cookies. If we add analytics in the future, this policy will be updated.
2. Photo Library and Media Access (MemeScanr)
MemeScanr may request access to your photo library to provide features like finding duplicates, organizing media, and helping you free up storage.
- We access photos only if you grant permission.
- Photos and videos are processed on your device whenever possible.
- We do not upload or store your personal photos or videos on Afia Labs servers unless a feature explicitly requires it and clearly explains what will be uploaded.
- You can change or revoke photo permissions anytime in your device settings.
Private "Backroom" Storage
If you use MemeScanr's private storage features (e.g., Face ID/PIN-protected areas), those items remain accessible only through your device and app protections. We do not claim ownership of your content.

3. Studio Services (Client Work)
If you submit a project inquiry through the website, hire us for studio services, or otherwise begin a client engagement, we collect and process information necessary to evaluate the project, deliver the work, and maintain the business relationship. This may include:
- Contact details (name, email, phone, business name)
- Project information you share with us (current website, brand assets, content drafts, technical requirements, scope conversations)
- Payment-related information (handled by our payment processor; we do not store full payment card numbers)
- Records of communications, deliverables, and changes during the engagement
Information shared during a client engagement is used only to deliver the agreed services and operate the business relationship. Project content is treated as confidential. We may reference completed work in case studies and portfolio examples after launch unless you opt out in writing before launch. 4. Newsletter
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect and store your email address for the purpose of sending updates about new apps, posts, and studio news. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email or by emailing us at [email protected].
5. Children's Privacy (Planet Wonders)
Planet Wonders is designed for children ages 5–10 and is intended to be used with parental involvement.
Afia Labs does not knowingly collect personal information from children. We do not ask children to provide personal details such as full name, address, phone number, or email.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to us, please contact us at [email protected] and we will take steps to delete it.
6. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the Services
- Evaluate, scope, and deliver client services projects
- Improve features, design, and user experience
- Send the newsletter to subscribers who opted in
- Respond to support requests and project inquiries
- Monitor and fix bugs and crashes
- Prevent fraud, abuse, or security issues
- Comply with legal obligations where required
We do not sell your personal information.
7. Sharing of Information
We may share limited information in the following cases:
- Service providers: We use trusted third-party vendors to operate the Services. These currently include Cloudflare (hosting and CDN), Web3Forms (project inquiry form processing), Firebase (anonymous crash reporting in our apps), and our email and payment providers. These providers are limited to using information only for the services they provide to us.
- Legal requirements: If required by law, subpoena, or legal process, we may disclose information.
- Safety and security: To protect the rights, safety, and security of Afia Labs, our users, or others.
8. Third-Party Services and Links
Our Services may link to third-party websites or services that are not controlled by Afia Labs. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties. We recommend reviewing their privacy policies.
9. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your Choices and Controls
You can control your privacy in several ways:
- App permissions: You can manage access to photos, notifications, and other permissions in your device settings.
- Newsletter: Unsubscribe via the link in any newsletter email or by emailing [email protected].
- Inquiries and support communications: You can choose what information you share when you contact us. To request access, correction, or deletion of personal information, email [email protected].
11. Data Retention
We retain information only as long as necessary to:
- Provide the Services and deliver agreed client work
- Comply with legal, accounting, and tax obligations
- Resolve disputes
- Enforce our agreements
- Maintain security and prevent abuse
Project inquiries that do not result in an engagement may be retained for up to 24 months for follow-up purposes. Records of completed client engagements may be retained longer to satisfy tax, accounting, and portfolio recordkeeping obligations. Newsletter subscribers' email addresses are retained until unsubscribe.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Services after changes means you accept the updated policy.
